National Fisheries Information System (NFIS) is an initiative of EAD and MOEW to collect effort and catch data in an enhanced automated environment. It fulfills the following immediate objectives:

• Collection of commercial fisheries data, i.e. catch and effort and wholesale value
• Storage and retrieval of commercial fisheries data
• Synthesis of fisheries landing data etc.
